The origin story

The Wardrobe Truck

Every production's wardrobe department starts in the same place: a truck, a rack, and a mountain of paperwork. This is the story of why we decided to change that.

Why we built this

80% of a wardrobe professional's day is paperwork. Binders, Ziploc bags, spreadsheets. The kind of work that makes talented people feel like data entry clerks.

The wardrobe truck is the nerve center of every production's costume department. It is where garments get tagged, sorted, photographed, and tracked. It is where return deadlines live or die. It is where a PA at 6 AM is hand-typing receipt data into a spreadsheet that will inevitably break by lunch.

And the tools? They have not changed in decades. Notebooks. Binders. Spreadsheets built by someone who left the show two seasons ago. Maybe a shared Google Sheet that only works when you have signal, which on most sets, you do not.

We built the tool we wished existed when we were the ones in the truck at 6 AM.

Threadline was built by people who understand what it is like to manage 200 garments across 15 stores for 8 characters on a 6-week shoot. People who have lived through the panic of a missed return window on a $400 jacket. People who know that "wrap weekend" should not mean three straight days of compiling receipts.

So we built something different. AI that actually helps, not AI that creates more work. Returns tracking that actually saves productions money. An interface that respects the craft and the people doing it.

This is not enterprise software squeezed into a creative workflow. This is a creative tool built with production-grade precision. Every feature exists because somebody on a real set needed it. Nothing was added for a pitch deck. Nothing was built to impress investors.

It was built to make the truck run better.

What we believe

Built on four principles.

01

Respect the craft

Wardrobe professionals are artists, not data entry clerks. Every decision we make starts with that understanding. The interface should feel like a creative tool, not an ERP system.

02

Intelligence should be invisible

Our AI works silently in the background. No badges, no buzzwords, no "powered by" banners. It just makes the work faster and the data cleaner. You should forget it is there.

03

Works where you work

Offline on set, online at the production office, everywhere in between. Threadline syncs the moment you reconnect. No signal required to keep moving.

04

Your data, your production

You own everything. Export anytime, in any format. No lock-in, no hostage pricing, no "contact sales to download your own data." It is your production. It stays yours.
